A wet basement smells bad. You may not consider the odor as a problem but if you will not fix the problem right away, it will progress into forming mildew and this will surely damage any furniture you have in your basement. Also remember that damp environment attracts pests, if you will not do something about the wet problem, you also have to deal with serious pest problem.
There are different kinds of waterproofing supplies but the three basic supplies are waterproofing compound, an epoxy cement formula and a trowel. You should be able to handle about 90% of the waterproofing jobs with these three basic supplies. So, how will these three be able to help you?
Waterproofing compound – this is used in sealing cracks and holes. You can apply this on those hairline cracks to keep the water from coming out from it.
Epoxy cement formula – this is used to seal bigger holes. The waterproofing compound is not ideal for bigger holes because eventually it will become weak.
A trowel – this is used when the cracks are hard to reach or when you need to put the cement formula into them.
