Exterior Basement Waterproofing
Building a house or a structure? Perhaps your architect has proposed that you make a basement so you could have additional space as storage room for the house or a parking area for your business edifice.
The idea of having a basement is glittery. Not only that a basement would add space in the house or in the building – it would also be trendy. Like most edifice, the basement or drilling or making underground holes is a standard operating procedure in construction. In order to make a strong base or foundation drilling is done. Because of this, it is necessary to make measures to ensure that the basement is waterproof.
As it was taught to you back in grade school, the ground has water; it is called underground water to be more specific about it. The underground water has the tendency to penetrate and get in the basement because digging the basement would raise the water table to some extent. If that happens, the foundation of your edifice or house is in grave danger. Since water would mean moisture, the foundation would likely to rot and decay. Moisture is the main cause of the weakening of the edifice that may cause harm to the occupants of the edifice.
Thus it is very necessary to make your edifice as safe as possible, but how could you get rid of the water? Then you have to take on the necessary measures. There are several ways by which you can ensure that your basement exterior is waterproof. The effective methods to do that are by sealing and putting drainage. Going back to the Law of Motion that says that anything that moves will remain moving in a straight direction unless stopped by an exterior force and the object at rest would remain at rest unless an external form would move it, we can say that the same thing applies to the water in the ground.
By sealing the basement, you will create a barrier to keep the water from entering the house or any building. The seal will prevent the water from reacting with the base thus making it moisture free. While creating drainage will provide a path for the water to pass through directing it away from the basement thus making it safe from moisture formation.
By keeping this in mind, you can go and be as trendy and spacious as you can by having your basement. Don’t worry, the water is not in your way to stop you.
